If your home carrier is EU-based and China is an EU/EEA member, you're already inside Roam-Like-At-Home and don't need Openline for data. Everywhere else, Openline is almost always dramatically cheaper. In China, Openline uses China Mobile's international roaming APN, which routes traffic outside the Great Firewall — so services like Google, WhatsApp and Instagram work without a VPN, unlike a local Chinese SIM.

Rough comparison

  • US/UK/AU home carriers charging daily-pass roaming typically cost $10–15/day — Openline plans in China start at a fraction of that.
  • EU home carriers outside the EU zone typically fall back to per-MB pricing that can hit €10+/MB — Openline avoids all of it.
  • Chinese, Indian, and Latin American home carriers vary widely; even so, an Openline plan is usually cheaper and doesn't require you to opt in to a roaming pack at home.

Openline runs alongside your home line — you keep your number for SMS/2FA and use Openline for data.

Still stuck?

Reach Openline support 24/7 through any of these channels:

When you write in, include your purchase code (the OL-… code we emailed you) and, if the eSIM is already installed, its ICCID (Settings → Cellular → tap the Openline line). That's enough for us to find your plan and diagnose without back-and-forth.
