An unlocked phone can accept SIMs and eSIMs from any carrier. A locked phone only accepts the one who sold it to you.
iPhone
Go to Settings → General → About and scroll to Carrier Lock. If it says No SIM restrictions, you're unlocked.
Android
Go to Settings → About phone → SIM status or contact your carrier. Some phones don't display this clearly; the definitive answer comes from your carrier.
If it's locked
Ask your home carrier to unlock it. In many countries (US, UK, EU, and others) they must unlock it once your contract is paid off. Once unlocked, you can install Openline.
Still stuck?
Reach Openline support 24/7 through any of these channels:
- Live chat — inside the Openline app or at openline.com
- Email — ask@openline.com
- WhatsApp — wa.me/15554842461
- Messenger — m.me/askopenline
- Contact form — openline.com/contact
- Social DMs — @askopenline on X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok
When you write in, include your purchase code (the OL-… code we emailed you) and, if the eSIM is already installed, its ICCID (Settings → Cellular → tap the Openline line). That's enough for us to find your plan and diagnose without back-and-forth.
