The QR is just a machine-readable form of your Openline purchase code. If the scan won't work, you have three fallbacks — the manual activation string, the one-tap link, or pasting the purchase code at openline.com/start.
First, fix the scan
- Make sure the phone that will host the eSIM is not the same device showing the QR — you need a second screen (laptop, tablet, print-out, or the email opened on another phone).
- Increase screen brightness on the device showing the code.
- Clean the camera lens on the receiving phone.
- Hold the phone 15–20 cm away, keep the whole QR code in the frame.
If the scan still fails
- Use the manual activation string — in My Codes → Show manual activation string, or in the confirmation email under "Manual entry", copy the SM-DP+ address and activation code and paste both into your phone's eSIM settings.
- Use the one-tap link if you're on iOS 17.4+ or Android 13+ with a compatible OEM — open the confirmation email on the phone and tap Install eSIM.
- Redeem the purchase code at openline.com/start on the phone itself. The site adapts to your device and generates the right install artifact automatically.
