Yes — this is a first-class use case. Openline purchase codes are bearer tokens, meaning whoever has the code can redeem it. Buy the plan under your own account and simply give the code to your friend.
How to gift a code
- Buy the plan you want to gift.
- Copy the purchase code from the confirmation email or My Codes.
- Send it to your friend by any channel (message, note in a card, printed on a QR sticker — the medium doesn't matter).
- Your friend redeems it anonymously at openline.com/start — no Openline account required.
What the recipient sees
- They don't see your email, your name, or your payment method.
- They see the plan (destination, data, days) attached to the code.
- After redemption, the plan lives entirely on their device / their account (if they choose to sign in).
Recall / cancellation
Because codes are bearer tokens, once you've handed the code out you can't reliably "un-gift" it — the recipient might have already redeemed. See our refund policy for the narrow cases where we can help.
Still stuck?
Reach Openline support 24/7 through any of these channels:
- Live chat — inside the Openline app or at openline.com
- Email — ask@openline.com
- WhatsApp — wa.me/15554842461
- Messenger — m.me/askopenline
- Contact form — openline.com/contact
- Social DMs — @askopenline on X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok
When you write in, include your purchase code (the OL-… code we emailed you) and, if the eSIM is already installed, its ICCID (Settings → Cellular → tap the Openline line). That's enough for us to find your plan and diagnose without back-and-forth.
