This comes up when a traveller wants iMessage to stay on their home number while Openline handles data, but iOS keeps trying to bind iMessage to the Openline line too.
Steps
- Settings → Messages → iMessage: make sure it's on.
- Tap Send & Receive.
- Under You can be reached by iMessage at, uncheck the Openline line's number if one is shown.
- Under Start new conversations from, choose your home phone number.
iMessage now stays firmly on the home number. Openline just carries the data. If iMessage stalls on "Waiting for activation" after these changes, toggle iMessage off, restart the iPhone, and toggle it back on.
Still stuck?
Reach Openline support 24/7 through any of these channels:
- Live chat — inside the Openline app or at openline.com
- Email — ask@openline.com
- WhatsApp — wa.me/15554842461
- Messenger — m.me/askopenline
- Contact form — openline.com/contact
- Social DMs — @askopenline on X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok
When you write in, include your purchase code (the OL-… code we emailed you) and, if the eSIM is already installed, its ICCID (Settings → Cellular → tap the Openline line). That's enough for us to find your plan and diagnose without back-and-forth.
