SM-DP+ stands for *plan Manager – Data Preparation Plus*. It's the server that holds your eSIM profile between the moment we generate it and the moment your phone downloads it.

What happens in practice

  1. You buy an Openline plan. Our provisioning system asks our RSP partner to prepare a profile.
  2. The prepared profile is uploaded to the SM-DP+ server and tagged with a matching activation code.
  3. Your QR code encodes the SM-DP+ address (a hostname) plus the activation code (a per-order token).
  4. Your phone connects to the SM-DP+ address, presents the activation code, and downloads the profile over TLS.

Why does this matter to you?

Almost never — the whole flow is invisible. The one place SM-DP+ becomes user-visible is manual installation. If your QR code won't scan, your Openline email contains the SM-DP+ address and the activation code separately. Paste them into your phone's manual eSIM entry sheet and you're in.

Still stuck?

Reach Openline support 24/7 through any of these channels:

When you write in, include your purchase code (the OL-… code we emailed you) and, if the eSIM is already installed, its ICCID (Settings → Cellular → tap the Openline line). That's enough for us to find your plan and diagnose without back-and-forth.
