VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is voice calls carried over the 4G/LTE data path instead of a dedicated 2G/3G voice channel. Since many countries have shut down 2G/3G (or are in the process), VoLTE has become essential for voice calls on modern phones.
Openline's stance
Openline plans are data-only by design. We do not carry voice minutes to a number. Use WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime, Signal, Zoom, Google Meet, or any other data-app for voice — they all run natively over LTE/5G data.
Your home carrier's voice line continues to use its own VoLTE where the home carrier has a roaming agreement with a local network. That's separate from Openline.

When you write in, include your purchase code (the OL-… code we emailed you) and, if the eSIM is already installed, its ICCID (Settings → Cellular → tap the Openline line). That's enough for us to find your plan and diagnose without back-and-forth.
