iMessage is bound to your Apple ID and the phone numbers you've registered under it. If your home carrier's line loses signal or Wi-Fi calling is off, iMessage won't reach you via that number — Openline can't help because it's a separate line.
Fixes
- Enable Wi-Fi calling on your home line before travelling.
- In Settings → Messages → Send & Receive, verify your Apple ID email is listed too — iMessage can arrive there even if the phone number is unreachable.
- Confirm your home number is still on the "You can be reached at" list.
